At Peace with Color

I'm not one to use traditional red and green for my holiday decor...no, no, no!
I converted this corner of my kitchen into a cool little colorful & peaceful hang out.  Just thought I'd share!
I have a collection of small vintage ornaments that I hung from this branch.
These glittery ornaments are the perfect topper for a couple of white vases!
And a candle-holding-buddah seems right at home under the aqua metalic tree!

And my favorite...the starfish that I painted a fuscia shimmer pink!  How do you decorate for the holidays?

Mercato Moment: Red's in Season

One of the best things about a farmer's market is the way you can actually tell the seasons are changing. You see the different fruits and vegetables come and go as they are supposed to, and you can find yourself feeling more in tune with the time of year.

Today I noticed how pomegranates have made their appearance in many of the local booths, and I also couldn't help but notice how beautiful they are for this time of year. The red color is perfect for the holidays.

Fresh or dried pomegranates can look festive in a decorative bowl around the house!

Not sure what makes these pomegranates sweeter than normal, but I'd like to find out...

These fall beauties are certified organic if that is your priority.

And you can even find pomegranate inspired products at the mercato right now! But get there early for the pom juice, it was sold out...

Next time you're at a farmer's market, keep your eye for persimmons too, as they go in and out of season in the blink of an eye!

Little LIL

Had a really fun photo shoot with my best little-girl-friend, AVERY.  She lives next door and we've become good friends.  She'll come over just to hang out and see what I'm doing.  We make cookies, swing on the old wood swing out front and she loves to learn about yoga and meditation!  She's seven.  So when I needed to get a few shots of our new Little LilyGirl Collection, "Little LIL", I went next door, we picked some clothes, and...instant model!

My favorite is the Little Celebration Necklace.  Great for a mom-n-me gift! Every piece comes in a sweetly decorated little gift box too.

There are 5 word choices for this Words To Live By wrist wrap.  Dream, Love, Believe, Peace and Laugh.  And ribbon color can be specified too!

Somehow this one didn't make the website, the Pretty Cross Necklace just needed a prettier face!  (of course there was some silliness too! )

I love you Avery...you keep me laughing and remembering to celebrate the little things in life.   xoxo, Lori

Elements

Which element are you?

Earth- Earth represents practicality, stability, materialism, realism.
Practical and dependable, earth signs provide the resources necessary for the functions of life. There is usually a deep affinity with nature. Earth signs are the builders of long-lasting structures.

Water- In touch with your feelings, and in tune with the nuances and subtleties in your environment that others won't even notice. Emotion, psychism, mysticism, intuition. Water signs are the “feelers,” the nurturers, the caretakers.

Fire- Fire symbolizes passion, energy, impulse, enthusiasm, inspiration, idealism, faith. Fire signs are the leaders and the cheerleaders. They provide us with much needed inspiration, motivation, and creative energy.

Air- Air symbolizes mental processes, language, intellect, reason, human communication and social relationships. Air signs provide the ideas that make things happen.

Four hand-dyed silk ribbons have been carefull selected to represent the four elements. Earth. Fire. Water. Air. They are packaged in a pretty box for a colorful and delightful gift. So many uses...wrist wrap, headband, pendant holder and more.  See them online.

Laguna Day Trip

Areo called the other day and wanted to see our new collection.  This store is truly amazing.  It's been on Ocean Avenue in downtown Laguna Beach for almost 18 years.

It was the perfect opportunity to take a little day trip and enjoy the sunny coast highway drive.

It's full of charm, and it doesn't hurt they take pride in offering lots of "green living" products, as well as items made from local artisans (like us)!

Here's Ashley the store manager, and George, one of the best guys around to help the ladies find what they are looking for...  Stop in next time you're going through Laguna!

All Mixed Up

Our new Mixed Metal Collection  is now available online.  We are loving the way it so wearable and it seems to go with everything.  No worries about matching your watch or wedding ring.  Just be free and mix it up!  We are using mostly brass that has an antique gold or silver finish that will not patina or tarnish.  How great, no more polishing, AND it's more affordable than sterling or real gold.
Layering is a big part of this collection. We've made many long necklaces in varying lengths so they can be worn together. There's even a Three Tiered Necklace that has the layers built in!

And the earrings!  They are so light, and range in price from $26-$44.   The Fringy Chain Earrings come in two sizes, and they all feature a combo of gold, silver and copper tones.  Sterling or 14kt gold ear wires are used for all earrings.
Yes, there are bracelets too.  I love our new Charm Bracelet that has a great mix of charms, so fun!  The Feather Bracelet is light and feels so good on, it is balanced with a sterling silver hammered circle and can also be ordered in gold.

But wait, there's more...as a special blog-reader-bonus, enjoy a free Fall Gift Box with any purchase in the Mixed Metal Collection.  Just mention the blog in the gift message section at checkout.  Now go shopping and enjoy!

Howl O'Ween

Tomorrow night is the big Howl O'Ween in Leucadia.  The community comes together and parades their pets down coast highway, and of course there is a costume contest involved...

What should Lily dress up as?

If you have a pet to parade, come out and join the fun from 5 - 8 pm! Each pet costs 5 dollars to enter, and all the money will be donated to the Rancho Coastal Humane Society.

Bathed in Rain

I love autumn air, especially after a good rain.  A recent walk around La Jolla found me in this outdoor library...an old book store, next to a coffee shop!  One of my favorite things.
I'm wearing a few pieces from our new Mixed Metal Collection.  We've combined gold and silver tones for easy, casual wear.
I really enjoyed looking through the old books... but I wasn't the only one having a good time!  This little bird was taking a nice bath in the leftover rain.

San Francisco Speaks to Me

This is my best friend Jane, we've known each other almost 25 years.

When I visit her flat in the Mission District of San Francisco I feel.... different.  Free and artful, and I see things in a new way.  There is so much to look at, to hear, to smell, to just take in.

Here is the view from her bedroom looking into the red kitchen. See how she displays all her flower accessorries on that ribbon?

A recent painting bought in a junk store was my favorite new addition to her living room.

When she decided to have a jewelry party I was so excited to display it all in her cool house.  She happened to have this branch just hanging out, so we used it for the ribbons.

But the best part was just getting to hang out in the city with my best friend. We walked or biked everywhere, which is the best way to experience San Francisco.

This is a new sculpture at the civic center called Three Heads, Six Arms and was created by Chinese artist Zhang Huan to reflect a traditional Buddhist sculpture.

Gotta love SF, but it's always good to come home, too.
